Echü Li Motsu

Folk Tale . 5:44

Title: Echü Li Motsu

Language: Lotha

Description: In the twilight of winter, a villager set out to find new land for planting. After days of wandering, he stumbled upon an unusually lush and fertile area, teeming with fruit-bearing trees and crops, even though it wasn’t harvest season. Thrilled by his discovery, he filled his basket with fruits and set off for home. But no matter how far he walked, he always found himself back at the same spot. Realizing something was amiss, he abandoned the fruits and ran home.

When he shared his experience with the villagers, they recognized the place from old stories. They believed he had unwittingly entered the afterlife, a land where the living were forbidden to take anything. The next day, the villagers searched for the mysterious land but found nothing. The story became a reminder that the afterlife is a realm beyond the reach of the living, shrouded in mystery, and only the dead could truly understand it.
