Description: The tales of ‘Rabitsürla’ meaning ‘Stepmother’ in the Ao language. The story follows the death of the first wife of our protagonist, leaving him a daughter. He then goes on to marry again. At the beginning of their marriage, everything seems so beautiful and perfect however Rabitsürla’s true colours are soon revealed. In the presence of her husband, the new wife would treat the daughter like her own but in reality, she despised her. ‘Rabitsürla’ was often considered to be cruel towards her stepchildren in Ao folk tales.
