How the Cuckoo bird was evolved

Folk Tale . 27:34

Title: How the Cuckoo bird was evolved
Language: Ao (Changki)
Description: In this story, a husband and father sets out to find his cannibal wife, despite her being perceived as “of no good,” out of love for their children. Upon reaching the deep forest where he had left her, they discover that she is perched in a tree, no longer appearing human or animal. She clings to the tree, emitting a cuckoo sound, having lost her energy. They call out to her, informing her that they have come to take her back with them. However, she is unable to transform back into a human and remains in the form of a cuckoo. The story leaves us with the melancholic image of a family unable to fully reunite, caught in a state of permanent separation and transformation of human to Cuckoo bird.
