SUMMARY OF THE POEM
The poem talks about a man who feels he has lost his old, innocent self while growing up. He misses the fearless and happy child he once was and feels trapped by fear, anxiety, and dark thoughts. His mother is innocent and does not understand what he is going through or how deeply he is suffering. He struggles with having two versions of himself inside. In the end, despite the pain and bitterness, the poem reminds us that he is still free to live, feel, and choose his own path.
