Once upon a time, there were three brothers named Chakhesang,Angami and Sumi. While their parents were still alive the elder brothers got married and recieved the share of their family.property. However, the youngest brother, who was not married yet, did not recieve his portion. So, to ensure he was provided for. their father gave him a land with huge flat rocks where the rice were grown. In that particular rock if 2 buckets of rice were kept to dry when they collect ,it would fill 3 to 4 buckets extra .However, after their parents passed away, the two elder brothers did not give a single chance for the younger brother to dry the rice and so he was deeply hurt. Everytime when he goes to the field he would bring a perilla leaves and hang it near the fireplace to keep it dry.One fine day, when the elder brothers were away from home, he took those dry leaves and placed on the rocks where they dry the rice, and completely burned down the place .From that particular rock a cock flew out and ran down the hills. The younger brother followed to where the cock was heading and went to another place which came to be known as Sumi. Soon after that, the second brother, i.e., Angami left the village as well. The village which the three brothers resided was Khezokhe and it still exist. And now, at present the Chakhesang people live there. After every 2 to 3 years the 3 tribes, i.e.,Chakhesang, Angami and Sumi tribes gather and conduct a fellowship known as Brotherhood.
