Description: In Hakchang village legend, enemies slaughtered the children, and while parents claimed the bodies of their own, one child remained unclaimed—believed to be the devil’s offspring, he was laid upon a stone, remembered in the tale of The Stone Child. In another, a grieving mother appeared in the form of a cicada, guiding her husband to a bond where she begged him to pour water, for only then could the cries of their child be soothed—thus lives the sorrowful memory of The Cicada Mother.
